Archiving & Deleting an Event Type
Event types can be archived and restored, and archived ones are hidden behind 'view archived'. Deleting is refused where something still depends on it — the delete would break a record or a page someone is holding a link to.
Details
- A delete is refused when any meeting references the event type. Those meetings point back at it, and its link is already out on confirmation emails.
- A delete is also refused when a plan delivers its sessions as that event type — including an archived plan, whose enrollments can still be live. Clients would be left holding credits for a page that 404s.
- Deleting an unused event type also strips its id from any intake form scoped to it, rather than leaving a pointer that silently never matches.
- Deactivate to take something off sale for a while. Archive to retire it. Delete only when nothing ever used it.
Good to know
- Every archive, restore and delete is written to the activity trail, so a missing event type can always be traced to who removed it and when.
