Why an Event Type Can't Be Booked for Free
Once a plan sells its sessions as an event type, that event type stops being freely bookable everywhere at once. Its sessions are paid for with pack credits, and letting anyone book it from the widget would be a way to take the pack's session and spend nothing.
Details
- Its own page offers the pack when you are signed out or hold no credits, the credit picker when you can book, and says you are out of sessions when the pack is spent.
- It is dropped from the embed widget's picker, the public availability page and the API's bookable list.
- The embed and API endpoints refuse it outright rather than merely hiding it, since a booking request never had to come from a picker in the first place.
- Retiring the last plan that sells it does not reopen it. Archiving or deactivating a plan stops new sales — it does not refund the packs people already hold, so their credits still need somewhere to be spent.
Good to know
- This is not retroactive: appointments booked against an event type before a plan claimed it are untouched.
- If no plan for it is currently on sale, the page says the session isn't available to buy right now rather than showing an empty shelf.
